So, the topic of Feminism came up today in class and we watched a French short about role reversal in society. I thought about the way people have always put labels on genders and then I also remembered a personal incident from over this past Christmas holidays where my love went out to a party and select people couldn't believe that I 'let him out.' Also, I had a friend ask me if he was around because I went to hang out last weekend, which I guess is something I don't do as much as I used to (and that was a lot of fun times). Of course, if I had it my way we'll paint the town red together, but I also think that those rare times of just saying "go ahead with the boys" is healthy. Adding to that, I believe that morals should dictate actions above the fact that we are living in 2014 because just adding time on should not mean that we should act frivolously, but we ARE living in 2014, so should we still hold on to those rules that some consider archaic, and are we really advancing or just going in circles? When you still have racial issues publicized on college and university campuses, and the fight for equality among races and gender, are we sometimes forced to go backwards and hold on to those old values that made sense and shaped us? I am a feminist in a lot of ways, but don't hold it against me if I pick and chose what to believe in and take a less radical stance on issues. I don't crave independence, its just in me to be that way!

I am adding the video I mentioned here. Its not for viewers under 18.
